Aadhar Card Authentication
For most of us, it has been years since we lined up to get our Aadhar cards. The process included sitting in front of a couple of machines which took our biometrics like fingerprints and retina scans. What we got in return is a paper card with our photographs (it’s fine, almost all of us look horrible in it), name, name of the parent/guardian, address and a 12 digit Aadhar number. Aadhar authentication is an instant mechanism to authenticate identity of a person online. A person’s demographic or biometric information is submitted to UIDAI’s Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR). The authorities in turn verify the correctness of details submitted. Whenever identification of a person is required, they submit a copy of or show in original their Aadhar card.
New Aadhar App Launch – What is it?
With the launch of New Aadhar application online, the Government of India seeks to relieve the Aadhar card holders from carrying a hard copy of it all the way to wherever they go. Carrying is not much of a problem, but forgetting to carry becomes one! While the New Aadhar application has been launched in its testing phase for now, this signifies a plan to make things digital through online facial recognition, QR Code. What they say is Aadhar authentication will become as easy as making UPI payments.

The Government of India through the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) launched the new Aadhar App in its testing phase. The application aims at allowing easy, secure and paperless authentication in place of physical copies. Things will particularly be easier during travels, hotel check-ins, banking formalities and other Government processes.
The New Aadhar App Launch has been portrayed as a promising move to avoid frauds committed through fake Aadhar Cards. - Facial Identification – Since the new Aadhar application reportedly accompanies the facial recognition feature, individuals only need to scan their face for authentication. This is a step ahead in the digital world. Things will be as easy as unlocking a smartphone.
- QR Code – Reports reflect that the authorities in the testing phase will have QR codes to be digitally scanned in order to authenticate a person’s identity.
- No Physical Copy – Carrying a physical copy or xerox for anything and everything often has us in stress whenever we don’t have it. Carrying a piece of paper is no trouble, but missing out on carrying it brings mini heart-attacks every time.
- No fear of loss – If you lose your wallet, money is not as much the issue as government IDs are. The reason is that losing a Govt. The process has been more stringent, but will become easy forever with the New Aadhar app launch. The new application will allow secure login through facial recognition or One-Time Password (OTP) . Making changes to Aadhar will also be easier and more convenient.
