The much awaited sequel, Pushpa 2 was recently released, all set to make new Box Office Records. However, the movie and its actor Allu Arjun made news headlines for a completely alien cause. The matter pertains to the death of a woman, Allu Arjun’s arrest, and the really quick fix by the Court to set him free within a matter of hours. With Pushpa actor Allu Arjun jailed and bailed within hours, the matter has got some eyebrows raised on the quick action under the Indian Legal System. Why Allu Arjun got jailed?
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2: The Rule was all set to be released on December 5, 2024. On December 4, a special screening of the movie premiered at the Sandhya Theatre. While the same was not in news reports, when people eventually came to know that the actor Allu Arjun’s presence at the Sandhya Theatre screening, the crowd kept increasing, fans got too excited, and the same caused a stampede at the place. As a result, a 35-year-old woman lost her life, and her 8-year-old son got severely injured during the Sandhya Theatre Stampede. The husband of the deceased woman and father of the injured child made a criminal complaint against the stampede which took his wife’s life and led the child into comatose who is still undergoing medical treatment. Consequently, the Hyderabad Police arrested actor Allu Arjun on December 13.
Allu Arjun Arrest Details
Pushpa Actor Allu Arjun was reportedly arrested by the Hyderabad Police from his bedroom on Friday morning, December 13, 2024. As per reports, the Police patiently waited for the actor to finish his coffee before arresting him from his house. Thereafter, he was taken to the Chikkadpally Police Station for further interrogation pertaining to the Sandhya Theatre Stampede. At 3:30 PM, the Actor was produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Nampally Criminal Court by the Hyderabad Police after undergoing a medical examination. Meanwhile, the Telangana High Court was set to hear Allu Arjun’s plea seeking to quash the criminal case against him in the Stampede matter. The Telangana High Court granted interim bail to actor Allu Arjun after sending him to 14-day Judicial Custody at around 5:45 PM. He was shifted to Chanchalguda Jail on the same day at 6:30 PM. Due to delay in preparation of bail documents, Allu Arjun had to spend the night in jail to be released the next day on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
Allu Arjun’s Release from Jail
As per reports, the Telangana High Court’s order allowing bail for Actor Allu Arjun and other documents were received by the Jail authorities at around 11:30 PM. However, the rules reportedly suggest that he could be released till 9 PM since the release time could be extended till 9 PM in exceptional cases. However, the delay in receiving bail papers postponed the actor’s release. Allu Arjun was released from prison early morning on December 14, 2024 at around 6:30 AM. This reflects that the actor could have been released on the same day when he was arrested, if the bail documents would have been received in time.
How Allu Arjun got bail so quick?
Pushpa 2 actor was arrested in a case where though it was a shared liability of the celebrities and the organizers/Theatre Administration, but the facts regarding whether the Police was informed in advance and enough security was sought remains a mystery after Sandhya Theatre Officials released a letter regarding Police Bandobust/security arrangements at Sandhya Theatre. However, what amazes one and all is that the actor got arrested in the morning, got a quick opportunity to be heard by the High Court in afternoon, and even got bail in his favour by evening. If it was not the delay in bail papers, he would have been released the same day. While the jiffy here is applaudable, the Indian Legal System does not run this speedily for everyone.
As expressed by Advocate Anam Siddiqui, “Allu Arjun’s arrest, which didn’t seem necessary, and his quick bail on the same day, leaves many wondering about the fairness of the system. It feels like justice works differently for celebrities compared to everyday people”. For a common man, there is a lot of waiting before the High Court provides an opportunity of being heard.
